The Activity Department invites you to come by and visit with our residents. Our residents are busy throughout the day in one of our many diversified programs offered to them. Our programs are designed to provide opportunities for each resident to meet their social, physical, emotional and spiritual needs. We employ 3 full-time Activity Assistants. We also have weekend activity staff that assist in programming.

Being the only Eden Alternative home in the S.E. area, we provide a number of creative activities for our residents that include children, plants and animals. HVCC has several daycare centers that visit every week. We believe this program gives the children early appreciation and understanding of people with disabilities and limited lifestyles. The children enjoy visiting with our residents and are always ready to offer hugs and kisses!

HVCC is home to many dogs, cats, guina pigs, birds, fish and rabbits. The residents can help care for the pets if they wish. They assist in brushing, feeding and walking the animals. To find out more about the Eden Alternative, call us anytime.

We have a handicap bus that goes out during the week. You will see our residents anywhere from Galveston to the Kemah Boardwalk. We take pride in taking our residents out into the community in hopes of them gaining independance and self-worth.

To meet our residents spiritual needs, HVCC offers several praise and worship services during the week and on Sundays. We also have volunteers that participate in bible study classes.

Individual programming ensures that all residents who are unable and/or unwilling to participate in group programs have consistent, goal-oriented and individualized recreation opportunities.
